Toony Navok Artist Talk with Nahum Tevet

In conjunction with “Rounding Up the Hours,” Toony Navok will present previous works and her sources of inspiration, and will discuss her current exhibition at the CCA with artist Nahum Tevet. The event will be held in Hebrew.

Nahum Tevet is an established artist whose works examine and deconstruct abstraction and representation and painting’s spacial and conceptual foundations, while addressing critical avant-garde art of the 1960s, particularly minimalism and conceptual art. These concerns have developed in Tevet’s work from the 1980s onwards through complex, sprawling works of art. Tevet is a professor at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design. He has presented solo exhibitions at the Israel Museum (1976, 1984 and 2006), the Tel Aviv Museum (1991), the Herzliya Museum (2008), the Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome (2008), and more. He also participated in Documenta 8, the Carnegie International, and biennales in Paris, Sao Paulo, Venice, and others. Tevet has been awarded numerous prizes, including the Sandberg Prize for Israeli art, the Minister of Culture’s Prize for Israeli Artists, a lifetime achievement award from the Ministry of Culture, and the Dizengoff Prize for Painting and Sculpture.

Toony Navok is an MFA graduate of the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design (2009). She received the Givon Prize for Young Artists from the Tel Aviv Museum (2011) and the Creative Encouragement Award of the Israel Ministry of Culture & Sport (2012). Navok has participated in various exhibitions both in Israel and abroad, amongst them solo exhibitions at the Haifa Museum of Art and at Local_30 Gallery in Warsaw. She has participated in ART COLOGNE, and group exhibitions at the Ashdod Museum of Art, Monart Centre, Neues Museum in Weimar, the Herzliya Biennial of Contemporary Art, the Rockefeller Museum in Jerusalem, and ARTLV. Navok co-curated the second Herzliya Biennial of Contemporary Art (2009) and was co-editor of the art magazine Picnic.
