Sao Paulo Biennial Tour
The São Paulo Biennial is the second oldest biennial in the world and the most anticipated contemporary art event in Latin America. This year, it is co-curated by five international and Israeli curators, led by Charles Esche, director of the Van Abbemuseum and winner of this year’s Bard CCS award for curatorial excellence. He is joined by Israeli curator Galit Eilat, exhibition designer Oren Sagiv, Nuria Enguita Mayo, Pablo Lafuente and associate curators Benjamin Seroussi and Luiza Proença. The biennial will take on experimental new forms that push the boundaries of what a biennial can be. Titled “How to talk about things that don’t exist,” it centers on the conviction that art can offer encounters with experiences and emotions that are not present in most analyses of human life. Marked as one of the most promising art events of 2014, the São Paulo Biennial will be a unique showcase for Latin American artists. In addition to the biennial itself, Brazil offers a treasure trove of cultural stimulation, both in contemporary art and as a rising world superpower with its own special charisma.
